More than 2,000 people of all shapes, colors and sizes will take over the UC Merced campus Nov. 3 for the first-ever UnityFest. UnityFest is a joint university-community festival that aims to celebrate the diverse cultures of the Merced area with a full day of ethnic cuisine, performances, educational presentations and kid-friendly activities.

The festival, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., is a collaboration among UC Merced’s Office of Student Life and local nonprofit organizations Healthy House and Community Partnership Alliance. It will feature information booths and activities from more than 50 nonprofit organizations and dozens of campus clubs, faculty and employees. There will be live music and dancing on three stages, art displays and a special appearance by Lupita Lomeli of Univision Channel 21. The event will be free to the public, and free transportation will be available from downtown Merced to the university campus.

For information: Jim Greenwood at (209) 228-2582.
