Date:
October 16, 2013 - 5:00 pm

UC Merced arts lecturer Karen LeCocq is showing her work in two exhibits in October and November. The first is at the Koehnline Museum of Art in Illinois and is entitled “Bodies by Design: Modification, Coercion and Resistance." The theme has to do with expectations and pressure society puts on women regarding body image in areas such as fashion, personal expression, politics and gender identity, LeCocq said.

The second is “The Torso Project,” an exhibit and benefit auction for breast cancer research from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16 at Savoury’s Restaurant in Mariposa.
