Be Prepared, Ready to Respond

August 24, 2016

Keeping the campus safe is a priority at UC Merced, so it’s imperative that staff and faculty members are prepared and can respond quickly when emergencies arise.

The campus’s emergency preparedness website provides timely information for students, parents, faculty and staff members and other members of the community. When there is an emergency, updates will be posted on this site as quickly as possible.

The site also contains the campus's emergency operations plan, crisis communications plan, evacuation guidelines, severe weather precautions and much more. You are encouraged to visit the site regularly to become familiar with the resources available.

If we face an emergency situation on campus, it is important that we are able to reach the campus community with critical information quickly through the UCM Alert emergency notification system.

By default, UCM Alert is set up to send a message to all UC Merced email addresses. To receive notifications via any other method, such as by text or phone message, individuals must update their contact information in the MyUCMerced portal under “Change UC Merced Alert Notification Information.” The campus will only use this system for emergencies or to test the system.
