Campus Launches Pilot Grant Program
UC Merced’s Office of Campus Climate is accepting proposals for projects that contribute to and enhance the campus’s culture as an equitable and inclusive place to study, conduct research and work.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Grant proposal program seeks to create and sustain a campus environment in which all UC Merced faculty and staff members and students feel respected, included and valued. The program is open to all faculty and staff members and students. Selected grants can be funded to an annual maximum of $5,000.
Successful proposals will include collaborative ideas for new and creative projects to help to make UC Merced a more equitable and inclusive campus community for faculty and staff members and students, and address one or more findings from the Campus Climate Survey, administered at UC Merced in 2013.
Grant proposals are due by 5 p.m. April 8 and can be submitted by completing a Web form. Information sessions about this pilot program will be held at 2 p.m. March 11 and 3 p.m. March 17 in Room 238 of the Student Services Building.
UC Merced modeled its program after a similar effort at UC Berkeley, launched six years ago. Details regarding UC Merced’s grant process — including proposal criteria, eligibility and deadlines — is available on the Office of Campus Climate website.
