CatCard Now Needed to Access Castle Buildings, Entry Gates

December 12, 2012

Facilities Management recently announced that effective Dec. 10, UC Merced's Castle location became a restricted-access facility and no longer provides open access to the general public.

Castle buildings 1200 and 1201, as well as the location's north and south side gates, are now locked 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a result, people who need access are required to use their yellow university-issued CatCards. The original white, university-issued card no longer provides access. A directory keypad has been installed at the main entrance, which visitors can use to call occupants for entry requests.

Access should only be allowed to visitors who are known and/or expected. Questions should be directed to Mark Lutz at 209-228-7819.
