Commencement 2013 Volunteers Needed
With two ceremonies planned on May 18 and 19 to honor the campus’s largest class of graduates, volunteers are needed to help make commencement a memorable experience for participating graduates.
Staff and nongraduating students are encouraged to volunteer. People who are interested in volunteering must sign up and submit an online form by April 26. All volunteers must sign up to attend one of two informational meetings, either from 9-10 a.m. May 8 or 1-2 p.m. May 9. Both meetings will be held in KL 232.
Please note that commencement tickets are required for all guests age 2 years and older. Staff volunteers will receive two tickets including one for themselves plus one parking pass. Volunteers who plan to attend a commencement ceremony in the Bowl must have tickets to be admitted. Volunteers are needed for the following duties:
- Canal Watch: Stand along canal and ensure guests do not try to get in (per police request)
- Candidates: Assist with robing, ensure students fill out their name cards, line up academic procession
- Faculty/official party: Assist with robing, line up academic procession
- Guest services: Assist candidates/guests with special needs, serve as a resource for guests with general questions
- Ushers: Check tickets, distribute programs, usher guests to seats, assist with crowd control
- Volunteer registration: Check in all volunteers and ensure they get their radios, assignments, etc.
