Early Childhood Education Center Earns National Accreditation

September 14, 2012

UC Merced’s Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) received accreditation from the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs (NAC), offered through the National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP) in Austin.

The ECEC successfully met the NAC's criteria in all areas, and in doing so, strengthened the overall program for the families served. Earning accreditation serves as a professional recognition that the center provides a quality program to the young children and families it serves. The program has developed comprehensive standards and evaluation for all program components including its administration, curriculum, staff and children interactions, health and safety, and parent communication.

The ECEC opened in June 2009 serving four children. Currently, the center serves more than 50 infants, toddlers and pre-school aged children in five classrooms and has 11 highly qualified teachers. All classrooms have a few spaces available. Those seeking more information regarding the center and its services please call 228-5437 (CAT-KIDS) or visit the ECEC website.
