Protect Yourself from Tax Fraud

Tax scams are becoming more sophisticated and continue to evolve. With the 2015 tax filing season underway, threats of fraud start to increase.

Tax-related identity theft occurs when someone uses a stolen Social Security number to file a tax return claiming a fraudulent refund. The best way to protect personal information is to be informed.

UC Merced Information Technology cyber security experts offer these tips to lower your risk of becoming a target for identity theft or tax fraud.
