New Video Explains Retirement Benefits

May 26, 2015

A new video presentation on UCnet, the University of California's website for faculty members, staff members and retirees, provides information people need to help them understand and/or begin the retirement process.

Created in collaboration with the UC Retirement Administration Service Center, "Preparing for Retirement" offers information about the UC Retirement Plan, the Retirement Savings Program and other sources of retirement income, retiree health benefits, the process employees go through when they are ready to retire, and what they can expect after retiring.

The presentation also includes five scenarios that compare an employee’s regular paycheck with his or her retirement benefit payment. Each scenario is different, from a simple calculation of basic retirement income to a calculation for an employee who receives only a portion of UC’s contribution for retiree health insurance.

The presentation is designed in short segments, so it can be viewed as an entire presentation or in selected sections. It is a video version of a presentation the Retirement Administration Service Center delivers in person on UC campuses.
