January Career Tracks Forum Available for Online Viewing

HR’s compensation management team, along with representatives from the Office of the President, provided the latest information about Career Tracks during a forum held Jan. 11 at UC Merced. Career Tracks, the new compensation and classification system for nonrepresented employees, launched at UC Merced on Oct. 1, 2012. All UC campuses, medical centers and the Office of the President will eventually transition to the Career Tracks system. Those who missed the recent forum can watch it online.

Fidelity Investment Education Classes, Guidance Consultant

Fidelity Investments retirement education classes will be offered at UC Merced on Feb. 7 in KL 232. Classes are open to faculty and staff. Register in advance by calling 800-642-7131 (walk-ins are welcome). Classes offered are:

  • Designing a Financial Roadmap, 11 a.m. to noon; 
  • Preserving Your Savings For Future Generations, 12:15 – 1:15 p.m.
  • Accessing Your Account, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Also available in February: a Fidelity Investments planning and guidance consultant will be at campus on Feb. 19. Starting at 8 a.m. the consultant can meet one-on-one with faculty and staff to review their plans regarding retirement savings or other financial goals. Sessions are 45 minutes each and are by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment online:

  3. Select the "University of California" link and choose your location from the drop-down list.

New Employee Orientation, Online Resources

New employee orientation is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 in KL 232. For more information, visit the new employee orientation page.

To register:

  1. Log in to the UC Learning Center using your UC Merced Net ID.
  2. Search for training by name in the search bar on the left of your screen.
  3. Select the course you are interested in, click Register to see offerings, schedule and location details.
  4. Check the box next to the class that fits your needs and click Submit to register.
