News from Information Technology
As the semester progresses, Information Technology has continued to make significant progress in enhancing our instructional, administrative and infrastructure services and is pleased to provide the following update:
New Lab Machines
IT added 62 new desktop machines to both of our computer labs on the second floor of the Leo and Dottie Kolligian Library. These modern systems will give us flexibility with both the type of classes that can be taught in the library and the software that will run on the systems.
Student Information System Transitioned to Managed Services
We successfully migrated our Student Information System to new hardware and to using managed services from our vendor. This speeds our ability to deploy new changes for our campus users and provides better support for our campus's main administrative system.
Instant Messaging Pilot – Office 365's Lync Product
We have rolled out our instant messaging pilot to more than 120 users from the offices of Student Affairs, Human Resources and Information Technology. Additionally, we have several faculty participating in the pilot, which runs until Oct. 1. At that point, we will determine if Lync will be rolled out to all staff and faculty.
Email and Calendar pilot – Office 365
We are planning the next phase of our project, which is the email and calendar pilot. We will run a four week pilot from Oct. 8 until Nov. 5th and then start a campus-wide rollout. We have created an Office 365 page and will update it over time.
