Oakland Artist to Speak at Art Show Reception

April 11, 2013

An artists reception for the Bobcat Art Show will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at the UC Merced Art Gallery (Social Sciences and Management Building, Room 106).

First and second place awards will be announced at the reception in five categories: painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media and photography/digital media.

Contemporary artist Milton Bowens, from Oakland, will give a 10-minute talk at the reception. His work often explores race in history and culture. In addition to being a talented artist who creates thought-provoking art, he is an inspiring advocate for arts education.

Guests to the campus will be directed to park in Lake Lot and purchase a parking permit from the yellow dispenser.

The Bobcat Art Show will run until May 2 in the UC Merced Art Gallery and on the second floor of the Leo and Dottie Kolligian Library.
