Training Prepares Campus Members for Violent Incidents

The UC Merced Police Department is offering Violent Intruder Response Training to help campus community members respond in the event of a violent intruder or active shooter on or off campus.

The training provides information to help attendees mentally prepare to recognize, assess and respond to threats. It is designed to provide options for responding, and gives insight regarding how law enforcement personnel may respond to these types of incidents.

The information presented is applicable to various types of incidents, including in the workplace and at home.

Training will be held on the following dates: 

  • Nov. 8 — 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Student Services Building, Room 110
  • Nov. 9 — 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Redwood Room in the Castle Facility
  • Nov. 10 — 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Kolligian Library, Room 396
  • Nov. 17 — 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Classroom and Office Building 2, Room 262
  • Nov. 29 — 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Student Services Building, Room 110
