Units Urged to Update Continuity Plan Before Dec. 31

December 17, 2014

The University of California constantly faces a variety of risks and is committed to being "event ready" so we can continue our teaching, research and service mission with minimal interruption.

In support of this objective, the UC developed its existing UC Ready continuity tool, an online program that allows all departments the ability to produce continuity plans.

However, the UC’s continuity management effort has continued to evolve and requires functionality beyond what is provided by the UC Ready tool. A project is underway to develop and implement important system enhancements. The software will be funded by UC Risk Services, and the system name and brand will remain the same. The enhancements are easy to learn and will make UC Ready easy to use, straightforward, efficient and fast.

The planned go-live date is April 1, 2015, with access into the current UC Ready tool ending Dec. 31. This will give the vendor time to migrate existing data into the enhanced system, and for campus business continuity planners to develop and provide campus training.

What your department needs to do before Dec 31: Review and update your continuity plan to ensure that the latest data is migrated into the enhanced system to minimize changes after the go-live date.

Training for departments will be provided in March and April.
