Dia de los Muertos
A Dia de los Muertos celebration is planned from 5 - 7:30 p.m. at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St., Merced. The family-friendly celebration is free to the public, and will include a candlelight procession at 6 p.m., food and beverages catered by J&R Tacos and a colorful exhibit of calaveras (skulls) and altars created by UC Merced students, staff members and members of the community.
The calaveras were created by students from a Livingston elementary school with the assistance of students in Richard Gomez's Arts 171: Art for Social Justice course and Yolanda Pineda's lower-division Spanish language classes. The art exhibit opened Oct. 13 and continues through Nov. 15.
The arts center is usually open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 209-388-1090.
