UFC Lunch: Gregg Camfield on Mark Twain and American Literary Humor
University Friends Circle (UFC) meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 1 at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St., Merced.
Vice Provost for Faculty and literature Professor Gregg Camfield will speak on Mark Twain and American literary humor.
Camfield has published on American literature and culture — from 18th century poet Joel Barlow to the television cartoon Beavis and Butt-Head. His work on the ethical and esthetic debates of the 19th century concentrates on the works of Mark Twain, American literary humor, literary sentimentalism and domesticity.
