UFC Lunch: Valley Fever Panel Discussion
University Friends Circle (UFC) meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 5 at the Branding Iron Restaurant, 640 W. 16th St., Merced.
The program features a panel of valley fever researchers and experts moderated by Paul Brown, UC Merced professor of public health and health economics and the director of the Health Sciences Research Institute.
Coccidioidomycosis, or valley fever, is a fungal disease endemic to the soils of the Southwest. It is widespread in California, with about 30 percent of all cases nationwide occurring in the Central Valley.
Admission is $20 for members and $25 for guests. For information on joining the UFC or to RSVP, email ufc@ucmerced.edu. Reservation deadline is noon Thursday, March 31.
