University Friends Circle - Shakespeare

Date:
March 04, 2014 - 5:30 pm
University Friends Circle (UFC) meets for a reception from 5:30 - 7 p.m. March 4 at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, 645 W. Main St.

UC Merced English Professor Katie Brokaw presents “Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’ and Dramaturgy.” Brokaw teaches the hilarious play in class and starred as Rosalind in the Merced Shakespearefest’s September 2013 production of the play.

You’ll learn what a dramaturg does, about Shakespeare’s cross-dressing heroine Rosalind, see a few funny and sweet scenes performed live, learn how UC Merced students learn about Shakespeare and find out how Shakespearean scholars often help in their local theater communities.

The cost is $20 for members and $25 for guests. For information on joining the UFC or to RSVP, visit friendscircle.ucmerced.edu. The reservation deadline is noon Feb. 27.

The UFC's mission is to inspire and maintain strong relationships between the UC Merced community and the communities of the San Joaquin Valley through activities that promote social and intellectual interaction, programs of service and fundraising initiatives that support UC Merced scholarships.
