Writing Minor Gala

Celebrate the unique voices of the students and faculty members at UC Merced at this year's Writing Minor Gala, featuring students getting their minors in writing and focusing on creative and/or professional writing.

Several students and faculty members will read portions of their works, including poetry, journalism, journal entries, stories, excerpts from novels and creative essays.

As writing always blends disciplines, the gala also celebrates the interdisciplinary artistry of writing and making music with the Writing Minor Gala House Band, featuring faculty members from the Merritt Writing Program, the Global Arts Studies Program, sociology and cognitive science, including Paul Gibbons, Jason Beaster-Jones, Byron Webb, Teenie Matlock and Nella Van Dyke, and others from the community at large.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Food and beverages will be available.
