Application Period for Next Staff Advisor to the Regents Closes March 7

March 3, 2014

Today (March 7) is the last day UC staff members interested in serving as the next staff advisor-designate to the UC Board of Regents can submit an application. The position's term runs July 2014 through June 2016.

The staff advisor program allows two staff or non-Senate academic employees to participate in open sessions of the Board of Regents as well as designated committees of the board. Staff advisors bring the voice and perspective of staff and non-Senate academic employees to board deliberations.

The current staff advisors to the regents are Kathy Barton, executive director, Strategic Initiatives in the School of Medicine at UC Riverside, whose two-year term expires in June, and Donna Coyne, associate director of admissions at UC Santa Barbara, who began her term in July 2013.

"Given the breadth of challenges facing the university, it’s more important than ever to have the perspective of UC staff on the board,” Barton said. “As a staff advisor, you can have a real impact in guiding UC forward during this critical time.”
