Campus to Participate in Earthquake Drill

October 6, 2014

On Oct. 16, UC Merced will participate in The Great California ShakeOut, an annual statewide earthquake drill, with other colleges and universities. During the drill, which will last approximately two minutes, millions of Californians will “drop, cover and hold on.”

About 10:15 a.m., the campus will test the UCM Alert notification system as part of the emergency preparedness campaign for The Great California ShakeOut. The test will consist of an audible message from blue light locations throughout campus and a text or email message to electronic devices.

Each student, staff and faculty member should receive a test message to his or her UC Merced email address. Campus community members who have registered personal cell phone numbers and/or email addresses should also receive the test message.

To register your personal cell phone and/or email address, visit idm.ucmerced.edu and select “Change Emergency Contact Information.”
