Chancellor Leland to Host Meeting With Staff in January
UPDATED JAN. 4: The meeting has been rescheduled and will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. Jan. 13.
Chancellor Dorothy Leland invites staff members to start their new year off at UC Merced by attending her meeting with staff on Jan. 7. The meeting, from 1-2:30 p.m., will be held in the Dr. Lakireddy Auditorium (COB 102).
Since she joined the campus in 2011, Chancellor Leland has routinely engaged with faculty and staff members by hosting brown bag lunches and town hall meetings to discuss topics of interest at UC Merced. Chancellor Leland's Annual Staff Meeting replaces the town hall format, but attendees will still hear important updates and news of interest from the chancellor.
Staff Advisors to the Regents De Acker and LaWana Richmond will also be at the meeting. The two are on campus that day to meet with campus leaders and staff to get a sense of the climate and discuss recent and upcoming initiatives they have been working on for staff systemwide.
Acker, director of UC Merced’s Office of Campus Climate, and Richmond, the staff advisor-designate from UC San Diego, will also discuss their roles as advisors to the UC Board of Regents as well as recruitment for the next staff advisor, which opens in January.
All staff members are encouraged to attend and supervisors and managers are urged to allow their staff to attend. For those who work off campus and are concerned about parking, enforcement will be relaxed that day. A reminder about the meeting will be distributed the week of Jan. 4, after the campus resumes operations.
