A biweekly publication for faculty and staff

Don't Be a Sneetch, Come to Staff Appreciation Week!

May 5, 2015

The 2015 Staff Appreciation Week at UC Merced is May 18 through May 22

At UC Merced, staff members will shriek
‘It’s time for Staff Appreciation Week!’

Held annually in May, it is true
That the week is a big ‘thanks’ for the work staff members do.

The theme this year, if you haven’t deduced,
Is based on the writings of Dr. Seuss.

Fun events planned involve games, hikes and snacks,
And silly antics by campus leaders in kayaks.

The week culminates with a big picnic feast
Of tasty offerings that rival roast beast.

After the meal, Staff Assembly will afford
Five hard-working people with Staff Excellence Awards.

Nominated by peers, the awards recognize
Staff members’ work contributions with thanks and a prize.

More fun is planned all through the week
With a wellness fair and UC Walks — an event that will move your feet.

There’s one other thing this year that’s new
Another pursuit staff members can do.

UC Merced's deans had fun during last year's race. They can play Find the Cat in the Hat
A hunt that can take searchers there and back.

A life-size cutout of the Cat
Will be placed around campus, imagine that!

Those who find him must snap a pic
With themselves and the Cat, then post it, quick.

The first three to post their pics on Twitter or Instagram
Earn a prize that beats green eggs and ham.

That game will take place from Tuesday to Thursday
And off-campus folks will, too, get to play.

Staff members enjoy the annual picnic. Also on sale, to help a student in need:
Lemonade bars! Frozen! No seeds!

The proceeds all go to a scholarship
for college-bound child of a staff member, and that’s no quip.

All the events are posted online
So get ready for fun and to have a good time.

Staff Appreciation Week comes once a year,
And when it does, staff members, for you, we cheer!
