Faculty Honored for Earning Promotion, Tenure

Chancellor Dorothy Leland and Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Tom Peterson hosted UC Merced’s first Promotion and Tenure Recognition Reception on Sept. 30. The reception honored a dozen Senate faculty members promoted in 2012-2013 as well as all Senate faculty who have been promoted at UC Merced in previous years.

A key measure of a university’s excellence is the quality of its faculty and their scholarly achievements. To earn tenure, faculty must go through a complex and thorough review procedure and are evaluated on criteria that include teaching, research and creative work, professional competence and activity and public service.
