Fall Public Safety Training

The Department of Public Safety offers a free 10-week Citizen Police Academy beginning Sept. 10. Topics will include:

  • Introduction to police services
  • Community policing
  • Traffic stops/DUI investigation
  • Use of force
  • High-tech crimes
  • Sexual assault
  • Domestic violence
  • Drug recognition
  • Crowd control/events planning
  • Financial scams

The academy is open to UC Merced students, employees and community members. Eligible applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to eligible UC Merced students and employees.

Applications, including a brief letter of interest, must be submitted to the UC Merced Department of Public Safety by 5 p.m. Sept. 7.
