Food Day Event Successful, Participants Pledge to Eat Healthy

November 5, 2013

Plenty of people at UC Merced got real about the food they eat during the campus’s Food Day event held last month. Food Day, which was observed Oct. 24 at all UC campuses, is a national celebration and movement to encourage people to eat healthy, affordable and sustainably produced food.

Participants munched on food samples, received recipes and were encouraged to pledge to eat healthy on that day and beyond. While some campuses extended their Food Day events to an entire week or month, UC Merced had the largest percentage of pledges of any campus on Oct. 24, with more than 300 people promising to eat real, said Health Care Facilitator Leticia Aldama.

UC Merced's Food Day event was co-hosted by the campus's Choose Well program and Dining Services.

If you weren't able to attend the Food Day festivities, you can still learn about healthy eating by visiting the Food Day website.
