IT News: Office 365 Migration; New Look for myUCMerced Portal
The final stage of the campus’s transition to new email, calendaring and collaboration tools is nearly finished with all faculty and staff account migrations expected to be completed by Jan. 22. More than more than 570 accounts were migrated to Office 365 by early December.
Information Technology began migrating users’ Oracle calendar data on Thursday, Jan. 17. Any calendar entries made after 8 p.m. Jan. 17 will not be brought over. Once migrated, users can access their email and calendar via the Outlook Web Access client, which can be found in the portal. Access it by clicking on “webmail” or by going directly to O365.
Users who need to reconfigure mobile phones, iPads or installed email clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) can contact the IT Help Desk for assistance or use self-help documentation posted on the IT site.
Meanwhile, IT will continue to offer training the week of Jan. 22 for Office 365 and Lync, the new instant messaging and collaboration tool. Trainings will be held in KL 232. All courses are first come, first serve until room capacity is reached. More information is available on the IT website. Additional questions regarding the migration can be sent to o365@ucmerced.edu.
