Coming Soon: Mentorship Program for Staff

UC Merced staff will soon have a chance to go to CAMP. This summer, UC Merced will launch Career Advancement Mentorship Program (CAMP), a new volunteer career development program that will match experienced staff members with colleagues who seek mentoring and professional development. The program will run from July 1 to June 30, 2015. Stay tuned for more information about the program in an upcoming issue of Panorama.

File Health, Dependent Care Claims by April 15

If you were enrolled in UC’s Flexible Spending Accounts (Health and/or Dependent Care) in 2013, you have until April 15 to submit your reimbursement claim forms for eligible expenses incurred during the period from Jan. 1, 2013, through March 15, 2014.

If you enrolled midyear, expenses incurred before your effective date are not eligible. Expenses incurred after your participation ends also are not eligible.

You must submit documentation when you file your claims. This includes any receipts or evidence of benefits statements that might be required to validate purchases made using your CONEXIS benefit card. All claims and supporting documents must be sent to CONEXIS for processing and be faxed or postmarked by April 15. You may also upload your claims and documentation on the CONEXIS website.

It’s important to review your 2013 claims to confirm that they were approved by CONEXIS and that no additional documentation is needed. Log into your CONEXIS account and select “view my prior plans” to review your 2013 account activity. Or you can call CONEXIS at 800–482–4120.

Internal Revenue Service rules require you to forfeit any balance remaining after the filing deadline of April 15. If you have any questions about your claims, be sure to contact CONEXIS directly at 800–482–4120.

New Employee Orientation, Resources

The next two new employee orientation dates are today (April 4) and May 2. Today’s orientation is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in KL 232, but the session on May 2 will be held in the Student Activity and Athletic Center, Room 211. For more information, visit the new employee orientation webpage.

The first few weeks in a new job can be challenging. To ease the stress of settling in, Human Resources has compiled a list of resources to assist new employees in acclimating to the university. Update: Systemwide Learning Management System

Cross-functional work group has formed to gather requirements and evaluate vendors during a request for proposal (RFP) process for a systemwide learning-management system (LMS). The LMS will continue to provide learning and development opportunities for staff and faculty members, while also adding limited compliance training for students and other non-employees.
