Nominations Open for 2013 Staff Citation of Excellence Awards

March 8, 2013

They are all around us: UC Merced staff members who provide outstanding service and routinely go above and beyond what’s required to get the job done. If you know someone who fits the bill, consider nominating him or her for a 2013 Staff Citation of Excellence Award.

The Staff Citation of Excellence Awards celebrates and recognizes five staff members for their contributions to the university. Honorees will be recognized at the campus’s annual Staff Appreciation Picnic on Friday, May 24.

Everyone is encouraged to nominate and/or endorse a staff member who embodies the following characteristics:

  • Exemplary performance and a strong commitment to the university’s mission of teaching, research and community service
  • Initiative, innovation and creativity
  • Demonstrated effective leadership, team building and teamwork
  • Community support and citizenship
  • Focus on customer satisfaction
  • Work process improvements
  • Significant accomplishments

Detailed eligibility criteria, nomination and endorsement forms are available on the Staff Assembly website.

Nominations and required endorsements are due by 4 p.m. Thursday, March 28. Nominations and endorsements submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.

Each honoree receives a personalized crystal cube award, a commendation letter signed by Chancellor Dorothy Leland and UC Merced’s Staff Assembly president, and a $500 cash award (subject to tax withholding). The names of the five winners also will be prominently displayed on a perpetual plaque of annual winners.

Staff Appreciation Week is May 21-24, 2013. For additional information regarding Staff Appreciation Week, visit the Staff Assembly website or email questions to staffassembly@ucmerced.edu.
