Open Enrollment Benefits Fair Set for Oct. 28

Save the date for UC Merced’s Open Enrollment Benefits Fair, happening Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Joseph E. Gallo Recreation and Wellness Center gymnasium.

The open enrollment period provides faculty and staff employees the opportunity to make changes to their benefits and to elect Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts for the 2017 fund year. Open enrollment begins 8 a.m. Oct, 27 and ends at 5 p.m. Nov. 22. Changes made are effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Insurance representatives and benefits vendors will be available to answer questions at the fair. UC Merced benefits staff members will be on hand to assist as well. The event is sponsored by UC Merced’s Administrative Coordination Team (ACT).

During open enrollment employees can:

  • choose a different medical plan;
  • choose a different dental plan;
  • opt out of medical, dental, and/or vision coverage or re-enroll if you previously opted-out;
  • enroll eligible family members in your health plans;
  • cancel coverage for a currently enrolled family member;
  • enroll or re-enroll in a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account;
  • enroll or re-enroll in the Health Care Reimbursement Account;
  • cancel Tax Savings on Insurance Premium (TIP) participation or re-enroll if you previously opted-out; and
  • enroll in the ARAG Legal Plan, an opportunity that isn’t open every year for enrollment.
