Professor Paul Maglio Named Editor of New Online Journal

The School of Engineering offers congratulations to Professor Paul Maglio, who has been named the editor in chief of the journal Service Science.

The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the largest professional society in the world for professionals in operations research, management science and business analytics, announced its board had chosen Maglio to lead its newest journal.

His term begins March 1 and runs through Dec. 31, 2015.

Maglio is a professor of technology management at UC Merced and a research staff member at IBM Research. He is one of the founders of the field of service science, and has published more than 100 papers in computer science, cognitive science and service science.

Service Science covers state-of-the-art research, education, practice and breakthroughs in the service sciences, according to its website. Empirical results, newly discovered science and technology are disseminated to academia and explained to policy makers, practicing professionals and managers.

Service Science is only available online, and debuted in March 2012.
