Records Retention Workshop Coming in October
If part of your job involves keeping track of and maintaining documents, you'll want to attend the upcoming half-day workshop, Records Management and Information Practices from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 22 in KL 232. The event is open to all staff members. Registration is required to attend as space is limited, and the registration deadline is Oct. 11. Register online.
The agenda and presenters are as follows:
- New Records Disposition Schedule – Hear about the UC’s new retention schedule, see a demonstration of the new website and learn your role in records management. Led by UCOP archivist and records expert Laurie Sletten, who served as the project lead for this systemwide initiative.
- Electronic Records Management – Learn how to determine which emails are considered records, which aren’t and why it matters. Conducted by Paula Johnson, the policy and records administrator at UC San Diego.
- Information Governance – Cynthia Vroom and Maria Shanle of the UC Office of General Council will discuss the latest legal developments, relevant court decisions and how those who serve as records stewards can apply that information to improve compliance and reduce liability and risk.
