Room Change for October New Employee Orientation

Please note that new employee orientation on Oct. 2 will be held in a different location due to planned meetings in the Chancellor's Conference Room (KL 232). The meeting will take place in KL 360 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The first few weeks in a new job can be challenging. To ease the stress of settling in, Human Resources has compiled a list of resources to assist new employees in acclimating to the university. Whether you are new to UC Merced or in a position of supervising others, you will find value in this tool.

Professional Development Workshops

Hone your skills by attending any of the upcoming professional development courses offered by the university:

  • Sept. 29: EEO/AA Law for Supervisors
  • Sept. 30: Communication and Influence
  • Oct. 8: Supervising According to Union Contracts and the PPSM
  • Oct. 13: Recruiting and Hiring at UC Merced Creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
  • Oct. 21: Disability Law and Management
  • Oct. 28: Delegating for Success and Accountability
  • Nov. 4: Conflict Management in the Workplace
  • Nov. 18: Emotional Intelligence/Whole Brain Thinking Styles
  • Dec. 9: Situational Leadership

To register:

  1. Log in to the UC Learning Center using your UC Merced Net ID.
  2. Search for training by name in the search bar on the left of your screen.
  3. Select the course you are interested in, click “register” to see offerings, schedule and location details.
  4. Check the box next to the class that fits your needs and click “submit” to register.
