Spring Citizen Police Academy to Begin

The Police Department is offering a free 10-week Citizen Police Academy beginning Feb. 20. Topics will include:
- Introduction to police services
- Community policing
- Traffic stops/DUI investigation
- Use of force
- High-tech crimes
- Sexual assault
- Domestic violence
- Drug recognition
- Crowd control/events planning
- Financial scams
The academy is open to UC Merced students, employees and community members. Eligible applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to eligible UC Merced students and employees.
Applications, including a brief letter of interest, must be submitted to the UC Merced Police Department by 5 p.m. Feb. 15. For more information contact Officer Darryl Davis at 209-228-2677 or via email.
