University Communications Honored for Website, Video

January 26, 2015

University Communications won two medals in this year's Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VII Awards of Excellence — one for the campus's new gateway website, and the other for the video "Discover UC Merced: Nick Fong."

The website won a bronze for Insitutional Websites, and the "Discover" video won a bronze for Recruitment Videos.

This marks the third consecutive year in which UC Merced has been recognized in the CASE District VII Awards of Excellence. In 2014, the team won gold in the category of News and Research Videos for “Impact: MESA Lab Researching Friendly Drones.” In 2013, the “This is UC Merced” video won silver for Video Recruitment Features, and “Inventions” won bronze for Excellence in Design: Multi-Page Publications.

The website, which launched in October, and the "Discover" video won from among more than 470 other entries in CASE's District VII, which includes California, Utah, Nevada, Hawaii, Arizona and Pacific territories. The Nick Fong video was the first in the "Discover" series, created by Communications and its multimedia team. Since then, the team has launched two others and is developing more.

Following the launch of the new gateway site, Communications' Web team is busy working on many of the campus's premier sites.
