2017 United Way Campaign Underway Through Mid-February
UC Merced’s annual United Way campaign is officially underway.
The campaign launched Jan. 10 and continues until Feb. 17. This year’s theme is “Live United.”
The goal of this year’s campaign is to achieve 25 percent involvement of the campus community. Since 2001, UC Merced’s annual campaigns have raised more than $293,000 for the United Way of Merced County. Through fun events and creative ways to give, the annual campus campaign strives to increase faculty, staff and student awareness and support for the needs of others in our community.
To help raise money during the campaign, the UC Merced United Way committee is selling Valentine’s Day See’s Candy Grams for $6 and See’s Chocolate bars online for $2. Nearly half of the proceeds go directly to the United Way of Merced County. Buyers can include personal messages to recipients, and the chocolate treats will be delivered Feb. 14. The chocolate hearts can be purchased from any of the campaign’s department representatives. The deadline to order the hearts is noon Jan. 27.
The United Way of Merced County advances the common good by partnering with local organizations that enhance and improve education, financial stability and healthy individuals. United Way identifies the most significant issues affecting the community, evaluates programs designed to address those issues and bring positive change, and pools resources and gifts to fund programs that have the most impact.
Anytime during the campaign, use the UC Merced United Way form to make a one-time payroll donation, sign up for a payroll deduction, make a one-time ACH/Credit donation or pledge volunteer hours.
